I think that you need to know someone really well  online because online they can be anyone and you will never know until you meet them. It is dangerous if you don't know someone well enough online because they can turn out to be someone else completely different then they say they are. But now, saying that, it is perfectly fine if you do meet someone online because there is the same chance that they can be crazy or that they could turn out to be someone normal.
